in Gloucester UK
This established part-time reflexology diploma course is competitively priced and runs over 14 Saturdays or Sundays during the year. Our reflexology course is a level 3 Diploma, accredited by the ABC Examining Board. If you're serious about training as a reflexologist this is the course and qualification you need.
For 2012-13 we offer the new modular (7 unit) Level 3 Diploma in Reflexology. This qualification has been developed jointly by a number of UK awarding bodies with an interest in reflexology, in conjunction with Skills for Health.
Eileen Gilmour has been lecturing since 1994 in both Hereford and Worcester, and is a fully qualified and experienced ex-teacher with a successful career in complementary therapies and training. Eileen has offered Reflexology at clinics in Cheltenham and Evesham.
She has passed on her skills to literally hundreds of students in both further education colleges (Worcester, Hereford, and Bromsgrove) and private courses.
After her courses, many of her students have gone on to make careers as professional reflexologists and holistic therapists.
Students can expect to practice professionally as a reflexologist on completing this part-time reflexology course and you will have the option of membership of the prestigious Association of Reflexologists (AOR) and/or Professional Reflexology
This online prospectus has details of the Principal, the learning, a calendar, our blog, details of course fees, and the Reflexology Diploma structure. There is a downloadable booking form, some testimonials, FAQ's, a learning DVD sample, Contacts, and a travel map of the M5 corridor access to Gloucester-Cheltenham.
Eileen Gilmour Profile | Staff | Professional Membership
Principal and Course Tutor
After training and qualifying as a teacher back in the early seventies she worked in primary and middle schools across the country. She learned how people learn and how best to motivate them.
The turning point came when, overcome by the demands of the National Curriculum and playground duty, she enrolled on an aromatherapy workshop and became excited by all things holistic. Over the next five years she re-trained as a therapist and gained invaluable experience working in natural therapy centres in Cheltenham and Evesham before starting her own busy practice.
Since 1994 Eileen has lectured in reflexology, aromatherapy, body massage, Indian head massage and anatomy and physiology at further education colleges in Worcester, Hereford and Bromsgrove. She has passed on her skills to literally hundreds of students of all ages - many have gone on to successful new careers as therapists and teachers.
In 2008 Eileen established her own private school specialising in offering top quality reflexology diploma courses in first class venues. She believes in making the learning process as enjoyable as possible - her early experience and training as a drama teacher has proved invaluable here!
When not contemplating feet Eileen works as a writer and has had many short stories published - usually with a humorous theme. ( The block-busting novel about the tall dark reflexologist is simmering on the back-burner.)

Guest lecturers and support staff
Steven Crumblehulme
BSc (Hons.), MSc, PGCE, MAR is a practising reflexologist, and also a trained psychologist and qualified teacher. This year he will be delivering some of the theory modules.
Karen Monaghan Offers individual support to students during most of the practical sessions which Eileen teaches. Karen is a qualified reflexologist and so can help underpin your learning.
Professional association membership when you qualify as a reflexologist
You don't have to join a professional association, but in our experience, it can feel good to be among friends, particularly when starting out.
AoR (Association of Reflexologists) When your training is complete you will be eligible for full membership of the AoR; the largest independent reflexology association in the U.K.
PR (Professional Reflexology) PR is newer, and takes a particular interest in the training of Reflexologists.
FHT (Federation of Holistic Therapists) The FHT is a UK multi-disciplinary holistic association and so might be a good choice if you see your work broadening beyond reflexology in the future.
Excellent Course Venues | Holistic Learning
High quality accommodation for our reflexology courses...
The School lets high quality teaching accommodation in Universities and Colleges as it needs it. In recent years we have arranged to let College/University venues for our courses at Ludlow, Worcester and Gloucester.
All have excellent teaching accommodation, well suited to teaching and learning reflexology.
Currently our 2011-12 level 3 Reflexology Diploma course, runs on 14 Sundays, spread over the year at:
The University of Gloucestershire,
Oxstalls Campus, Oxstalls Lane,
Longlevens,
Gloucester
GL2 9HW
We intend to use the same venue in 2012/13. It is only 3 miles from Junction 11 of the M5 and within easy reach of Cheltenham via the A40.
There is plenty of safe, free, parking and excellent social space for lunch and breaks.
Please note that there is no other connection, academic, business, or otherwise between the Eileen Gilmour School of Holistics, and Gloucestershire University.
Of course you can learn...
and...
You learn best holistically
So care is taken to integrate theory and the practical reflexology client sessions.
Most students really enjoy themselves
Perhaps particularly if you have been away from education for a time, the chance to meet other people with like minds and exchange ideas can be invigorating in itself. The content is interesting, learning is reinforced with practical client sessions and confidence usually develops quickly.
The learning environment is excellent, and the atmosphere is relaxed and supportive, as you would expect in holistic therapy.
You can read some comments from ex. and current reflexology students on the 'Student Views' page.
Enjoyment is encouraged!
Eileen's groups are always small and friendly (maximum of 12 students) with the emphasis on individual development and support. She believes in making the learning process and the course of study as enjoyable and varied as possible.

You can stay in touch between sessions
You can submit course assignments as eMail attachments, and you can contact your tutor by eMail for support or if you run into difficulty.
After your reflexology course...
Eileen encourages ex - reflexology students to continue to network amongst themselves after they have completed the course. Because we have students from Worcestershire, Herefordshire, and Gloucestershire, there is lots of space for everybody to practise. We are happy to offer ex-students a link on our web site.

Reflexology Course Validation and Accreditation
Boring stuff but important! Read it only if you need it.
All our courses (other than short-courses and tasters) are externally validated. We only use examining boards and courses which are in the OFQUAL Register of Regulated Qualifications and are accredited by the Office of the Qualifications and Examination Regulator (OFQUAL), which reports to Parliament.
Training and learning like this has a place in the National Qualifications Framework.
All this means that your Reflexology Diploma will be nationally recognised and respected. It also means that your learning has on-going value for the future, and some international equivalency.
You will be a qualified reflexology practitioner.
Validation involves visits by the examination board, confirmation of effective learning accommodation for the course, valid assessment procedures, and comprehensive policies (such as Health and Safety, and Equal Opportunities).
Assessment is carried out by the school, and checked by a qualified internal verifier arranged by the school. Towards the end of the course we are visited by an external verifier from the exam board. This is paid for by your exam fees.

Reflexology Awarding Bodies and Assessment
Traditionally, awarding bodies defined the curriculum, and handled the award process, against their own standards. In recent years the Government has been working towards a qualifications framework with fewer unique course products, and clear statements of level.
The new modular (7 unit) Level 3 Diploma in Reflexology has been developed jointly by a number of awarding bodies, in conjunction with Skills for Health. It is essentially the same qualification, at the same level, from ABC, ITEC and VTCT, because they have all worked together with others to create it.
ABC (Awarding Body Consortium)
ABC is the awarding body we use for our reflexology courses.
The content of the new reflexology course is broadly similar to the past, but there is no longer an externally set written examination.
Reflexology Course Assessment
Students will have their learning assessed through the following:
6 in-depth case studies, carried out at home.
Written assignments.
Practical skills assessment
Written theory tests.
A pass is required in each area. Additionally, you will need a current First Aid certificate.
Frequently Asked Questions | Another Question?
Why should I choose your school?
I qualified as a teacher thirty-eight years ago and as a therapist eighteen years ago. I have successfully trained many hundreds of students and am well known as a therapy teacher. Groups are small and friendly. (Maximum twelve students)
You'll have enjoyable reflexology sessions with like-minded fellow students in high quality university teaching accommodation with excellent, secure, facilities.
Why should I choose this reflexology qualification?
The ABC Level 3 Reflexology Diploma gives you membership of the AoR. This is the qualification you need if you are serious about a career as a reflexologist.
Can I afford to do this course?
The course is very competitively priced. Some Further Education Colleges offer cheaper reflexology courses, but relatively few of them have the full 7 unit course which allows AoR membership. You're paying for a whole new career opportunity, the skills of an experienced reflexology teacher and membership of the top reflexology association.
How many hours will I need to devote to homework?
It depends what your background is. If you practise another therapy or have some knowledge of anatomy and physiology, for example, then you'll have already covered some of the reflexology syllabus. On average students probably need to spend 5-10 hours per week on college work.
What if I'm ill and miss a session?
You can make up missed work by arrangement with the school.
I live some distance away.
Will I be able to find somewhere to stay?
Yes. Because we use university and college accommodation, there are always plenty of hotels and small friendly B & B's within reach of our course venues.
Will I be able to practise professionally right away?
Yes. As soon as you pass all elements of your reflexology course you can start to set up your own practice.
